Funeral services for the Rev. Bob Watson Sr., 84, of Demorest, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Furman Lewis, the Rev. Brian James, Dr. Tom Mewborn and the Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

The Rev. Watson died Thursday, May 15, 2014.

Born Dec. 21, 1929, in St. Petersburg, Fla., son of the late William T. and Lucy Roberts Watson. He was also preceded in death by his son, Bill Watson.

The Rev. Watson was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was a retired minister of the Gospel with 55 years of service.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Peggy L. Watson of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Lynda and Barry Barron of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Susan Watson of Demorest; grandchildren, April Watson Miller, Robin Watson Moser, Caleb Barron, Brittany Barron; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Moser and Ainsley Moser.
