Funeral services for Amos King, 87, of Alto, were held at 2 p.m. May 27 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Pastor John Graham and Rev. Jerry Luke officiating.

Interment followed in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church cemetery.

Amos King, died May 24, 2014, at Habersham Medical Center.

Born in Habersham County Oct. 23, 1926, he was a son of the late Peter L. King and Recie Martin King. Mr. King was a logger and of the Christian faith. He was a hard worker who enjoyed his animals and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Reece Lee King; brothers, Lem, Edward, and Allen King.

Surviving are loving wife, Henrietta Wiley King of Alto; daughters, Freenon “Sara” Canup of Young Harris and Ann Youngblood of Alto; sons, Harlon King of Suches, Baxter King, Dexter King, and Robert King all of Alto; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Max King of Alto; sisters, Gervis Taylor of Alto and Elizabeth Grier of Alto.
