Mr. Barrett died May 27, 2014, at his home.
Born Feb. 26, 1945, in Commerce, he was the son of the late Grady and Mattie (Parr) Barrett. He was co-owner and operator of Side Street Deli. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of New Vision Worship Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Menard; brother, Donnie Barrett; and sisters, Mildred Philyaw and Joyce Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Oliver Barrett; children, Bo and Karen Barrett, Shane and Amy Barrett, Angie and Mark Lowery, Amanda and Kevin Ivester, Michelle and Jonathan Smith, and Chris Barrett; grandchildren, Matthew Barrett, Nicole Barrett, Merecedes Weaver, Greg Childers, Austin Barrett, Dylan Barrett, Chris Barrett, Madison Franklin, Anna-Paige Barrett, Emma Barrett, Ethan Lowery, Katie Ivester, Holden Smith and Harper Smith; five great-grandchildren; brothers, James and Barbara Barrett, Johnny and Drucilla Barrett, Bobby and Brenda Barrett, Billy Joe and Sandra Barrett, Jerry and Joyce Barrett, Terry and Judy Barrett and Steve and Pam Barrett; sister, Betty and Jerry Williamson; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Barbara Oliver; and a number of nieces and nephews.
