Habersham County Sheriff’s deputies investigated further into the shooting Jan. 18 at the White County Line and have made an additional arrest.

The case involved an attempted robbery in the Mineral Springs area where Drake Free, 20, of Cornelia alleged he was going to sell an iPhone to Cameron Wiley, 19, of White County. Instead, Free allegedly tried to steal money from Wiley, who shot at him twice, hitting him in the shoulder.

Deputies and Georgia State Patrol officers spent eight hours dredging the Chattahoochee River where they believed the gun was thrown, only to find out later that it was not there.

Investigators found out through further interviews that the gun was located at a home in Lula, where Cade Scoggins, 19, of Lula was arrested with one count of party to a crime.

Additionally, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office investigators have secured an additional warrant against Wiley for one count of False Statements.

The investigation will now be completed and turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
